Eligibility guidelines
To be eligible for this bursary you must:
- be commencing study onshore in an undergraduate degree or postgraduate degree at ECU, Western Australia in Semester Two, 2021. Should travel restrictions prevent you from commencing onshore in Perth, you may in certain circumstances instead become eligible for the Welcome to ECU Online Bursary;
- meet ECU’s academic direct entry requirements for the course of your choice (not a packaged pathway);
- be an International student, not an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, or New Zealand Citizen;
- applicants must accept their first issued ECU course offer and pay their full semester tuition fees between the Opening and Closing Dates. ECU must be in receipt of the full semester tuition fees within the below timeframes:
- Accept and pay within 14 days of first offer issuance - $2,000 Bursary; or
- Accept and pay within 15-21 days of first offer issuance - $1,000 Bursary; and
- not be in receipt of another bursary (not including ECU International Scholarships).
Terms and conditions
The following ongoing conditions apply to this bursary:
- The recipient must meet the eligibility guidelines and these terms and conditions.
- Course transfers are not permitted.
- The bursary will be applied directly by ECU to the recipient’s second semester unit fees. The bursary can only be used for tuition fees and cannot be used for any other student expense, and is not redeemable for cash.
- The recipient must maintain a full-time enrolment load of 60 credit points in their second semester of study.
- The bursary cannot be transferred to an ECU location or partner outside Western Australia, or to another university.
- Commencement of the course of study and the bursary cannot be deferred.
- The recipient must pay their tuition fees within the stipulated payment deadlines. Failure to do so will negate the bursary and the tuition fee structure may revert to full-fee international tuition.
- The recipient may become ineligible for the receipt of the bursary if they receive a government scholarship, industry sponsorship or another ECU bursary (excluding scholarships). Ongoing eligibility for the bursary in these circumstances is at ECU’s absolute discretion.
- The recipient must comply with all applicable requirements under ECU’s statutes, rules, by-laws, policies, procedures or other similar instruments, and with all applicable visa requirements.
- The recipient must notify ECU of any change of circumstances that may affect their ongoing eligibility to receive the bursary.
All scholarships and bursaries are awarded at ECU’s discretion. ECU reserves the right to revoke the scholarship or bursary at any time if a student is found to have provided information that is false misleading, does not meet the scholarship or bursary eligibility criteria (including ECU’s admission requirements), or does not comply with the ongoing scholarship or bursary conditions.
ECU reserves the right to decline to award bursary if, in its opinion, there are no suitable applicants. The number of bursaries to be awarded is at ECU’s sole discretion. This bursary may be withdrawn from offering by ECU at any time.
How to apply
To receive this bursary, you need to receive your offer, accept and pay within the outlined timeframes.
The bursary will automatically be applied towards your second semester tuition fees.
Successful recipients will receive confirmation after their first semester, having met the above criteria.
No separate bursary application is required.
This bursary can be combined with other ECU scholarships.
