RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Graduate Teaching Assistants teach one (1) four-credit section of Foundations of Writing and Rhetoric (ENG 101) for mainstream or multilingual writers per semester during the academic year, supervised by the department First-Year Writing Director and/or Multilingual Writing Director. New Teaching Assistants must report for a one-week workshop on August 11, 2025. Classes begin on August 25, 2025. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • in English or related field.
  • Admission to the College of Graduate Studies at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
  • Strong English language speaking and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in academic writing.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with undergraduate students, faculty, and other Teaching Assistants.
  • Enrollment in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship.
  • Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Enrollment in a graduate degree program in English at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
  • Strong interest in teaching composition to a variety of undergraduate student populations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

2. Graduate Assistantship- Piano Accompanist- Performing Arts

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Serve as a piano accompanist for the Department of Music and Entertainment Industries. Depending on experience, this may include accompanying choral ensembles and accompanying for private instrumental and vocal lessons. Depending on experience, assist with conducting choral and/or instrumental ensembles. Other administrative and departmental duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • Undergraduate degree in Music.
  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
  • Admitted to a graduate program in Music at Minnesota State University, Mankato by start date.
  • Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.

  • Evidence of experience as an accompanist.

3. Graduate Teaching Assistantship- Communication and Media

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION: 

The Department of Communication and Media is seeking on-campus / in-person Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) for the 2025-26 academic year. GTAs typically teach up to two sections of the basic communication course each semester and fulfill related instructional and departmental obligations (up to 20 hours per week). GTAs may also apply to serve as Graduate Forensic Assistants who may have reduced teaching assignments in order to support the University’s Speech and Debate team. New GTAs must report for a one-week training / workshop beginning August 11, 2024. Classes begin August 25, 2025.

  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • Admission to a Communication and Media graduate program.
  • Strong English language speaking and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in academic writing.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with a variety of people representing diverse perspectives.
  • Enrollment in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during the assistantship period.
  • Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
